Pan African Parliament
In 2006 a competition, approved by the UIA, AUA and SAIA, was launched by the National Department of Public Works on behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs. The competition, being a continent-wide competition for the architects of Africa, drew entries from most African countries. The site is in Midrand and is prominently located along the N1. The brief called for a building that represented the aspirations of Africa and an international Jury awarded prizes to five finalists. The competition was won by Earth Lab from Durban
